We made a case yesterday for discipleship being for all who are born again. We said, in essence, that a Christian would move in the direction of being under discipline to the Lord Jesus Christ from day one of his or her conversion. They would grow in that for the remainder of their lives. However, what about children and those that are mentally challenged? God knows the capacity of each and every one who belongs to Him. For those with limitations, His grace meets their lack and compensates for what they are genuinely unable to do. Children who come to Christ at a young age are under the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit and God works to motivate their development and lead them into more and more discipleship. It would be similar with those who struggle with learning. Having said that, it is amazing how some without abilities that most of us are blessed with can really develop Spiritually. One man I heard about couldn't read or write but had his Pastor underline John 3:16 in his Bible. He would then turn to it and ask people to read it. He would use what they read to tell them how to be saved. Children's simplicity and sincerity have often led to adults being saved. Never underestimate what God can do in anyone's life. He can and does use the weakest vessels to His glory. Selah! If those with limitations can be used by God, then it follows that if He has given us more abilities, He expects those abilities to be used for His glory. Ron
